Decide to Be Consistent First, Then Reinforce It

Hey there. Consistency is one of the biggest struggles when it comes to eating and exercise. We tell ourselves that if we just stick with it long enough, we’ll start to believe we’re consistent. But what if we’ve got it backwards?

I believe the key to real, lasting consistency is making the decision first. Decide today that you are someone who is consistent. Once you do that, your actions will reinforce that belief, rather than being the thing that convinces you.

So often, we rely on actions to build belief. But what happens when life throws a curveball? If you base your consistency on whether or not you completed your workout or stuck to your meal plan, then one off day can make you feel like you’ve failed. That’s why shifting your mindset is so powerful.

Right now, I’m recovering from a torn fascia in my foot. I can’t work out the way I normally do, but because I’ve already decided I am consistent, I don’t feel thrown off track. The gym will be there when I return. My active lifestyle isn’t about perfection; it’s about knowing who I am and trusting myself to get back to it.

Think about all the ways you’re already consistent in life, things you do daily, weekly, or even monthly without question. You don’t second-guess those habits, so why treat fitness and nutrition any differently? The moment you decide you are consistent, everything shifts. The self-doubt fades, and instead of chasing proof, you start living it.

So, what’s stopping you? Decide today. You are consistent. Always and forever!!💪🏻🦥
