Hey there. If you’re frustrated with what the scale says, I want to remind you of something that could change how you see your entire fitness journey. The number on the scale is not a reflection of your effort. It’s just data.
You might step on the scale after a week, two weeks, or even a month of being consistent and feel completely defeated if it doesn’t go down. I’ve been there. You think, I’ve done everything right... so why hasn’t it changed? But the truth is, your body doesn’t operate on your timeline. It fluctuates for so many reasons, and weight loss doesn’t happen in a perfectly straight line.
The best thing you can do is log the number and move on. Seriously. Record it in whatever system you’re using and don’t dwell on it. The more weigh-ins you do, the more you’ll be able to see the overall trend. And that’s what matters.
If you’re weighing in weekly, that’s four data points per month. After six months, you’ve got around 26. If you’re consistent over time, even at 70 percent effort, your trend will start to show progress.
It’s also worth clearing up that whole “one to two pounds a week” thing. That’s not a guarantee every single week. It’s more of an average that plays out over time. You might not see the scale move for weeks, then suddenly it drops a few pounds. Or it might move in smaller, less noticeable ways. That’s normal.
I know it’s tough not to let the number mess with your head. But if you can train yourself to treat it like data instead of judgment, you’ll have a much healthier mindset. I’m not saying ignore the scale. I’m saying use it wisely.
