When You Fall Off Track

Hey there. There are going to be times when fitness just doesn’t click. You might have a plan, good intentions, and the space to follow through, but for some reason, you just don’t. Maybe it’s a few missed workouts. Maybe it’s weeks. Maybe it turns into months. And you might start asking yourself what’s wrong or how you let it get to this point. I’ve been there too.

Sometimes, it’s not about being injured or having a major life change. Sometimes you're just in your head. You’re overwhelmed or burned out and you don’t even realize it. And instead of giving yourself the compassion you’d offer someone else, you beat yourself up. You tell yourself you’re lazy or unmotivated. You start to feel like fitness is slipping away and you’re failing. But the truth is... you’re not.

What I’ve learned through experience is that these breaks are part of the process. They don’t mean you’ve lost everything. They don’t mean you’ve failed. They’re an opportunity to reconnect. One of the things I talk about often is the six minimum daily actions. Four of them are centered around building a connection with yourself. Whether that’s journaling, stepping outside for silence, speaking positively to yourself, or engaging in something creative, each of these helps you pause and reflect. Even when you’re not in the gym or tracking food, you can still build that connection from the inside/out.

Fitness doesn’t have to be your identity. And when it becomes your whole world, missing a single workout can feel like a crisis. But it’s not. It’s a signal. Sometimes you need a rest. Sometimes you need to reevaluate. Sometimes you need to slow down and just live at your own pace for a while.

That doesn’t mean you’ve lost progress. That means you’re human. You’re building something sustainable. Something real. I want you to enjoy your active lifestyle. I want you to choose it because it adds value to your life, not because you feel forced to do it to prove something.

So if you’re in a season where things aren’t clicking, that’s okay. Give yourself permission to rest. Reconnect. Rebuild. And when you’re ready to move forward, you will.

If you're looking for guidance and want to work through your own sustainable process, I’d love for you to join The YLF Experience. Let’s build your life from the inside/out.
