Your Worth Is Not in the Feed

Hey there. I’ve been thinking a lot about how social media fits into our health and fitness journeys. Not just as a place to find workouts or get motivation, but how it actually affects the way we see ourselves. The scroll can feel endless. And most days, it's filled with reminders of what we’re not, what we’re not doing, and what we should be chasing.

But what if we’ve been chasing the wrong things?

I want you to connect with yourself. Really connect. That means slowing down and untangling all the stuff that’s been layered on top of who you are. All the “shoulds” that come from fitness influencers, perfectly curated meals, and unrealistic expectations. When you start to build from the inside/out, everything changes. You might still go after some of those same goals, but your reason for doing so feels completely different.

And this is where social media becomes a challenge. These platforms are built to keep you engaged. But that engagement usually comes at the cost of your attention, your energy, and your self-belief. I’m not saying get rid of it entirely. I use it too. But I use it differently. I’ve moved away from chasing likes and comments and started leaning into long-form content that actually gives you something to think about and apply. My blog, my podcast, my email list… those are all built to support you without draining you.

If you’ve been trying to change your body for years, maybe even decades, and you still feel like something is missing, it’s not about your willpower. It’s that you’ve been using an external process to fix an internal challenge. I know this because I’ve lived it. And I’m still navigating it with cerebral palsy and a body that doesn’t always cooperate. But I still show up for myself. And I want that for you too.

I want you to enjoy the life you’re building. Not one where you white-knuckle your way through the next program or challenge. Not one where you’re constantly distracted by what everyone else is doing. One where you use tools like social media intentionally… then put your phone down and actually live.

If you’re ready to take a new approach to fitness and mindset, and you want help building something sustainable, I’d love for you to join The YLF Experience. This is where we connect with ourselves, build belief, and reshape our goals from the inside/out.
