Hey there. For a lot of us, weight loss has been part of our lives for years. Maybe even decades. We’ve tried different plans, read the books, watched the talk shows, and followed the trends. Some things worked for a while, others didn’t. But what many of us carry without even realizing it is our relationship with weight loss itself. And that relationship needs a reset.
Letting go of your past experience with dieting is tough. We’ve been told so many things over the years. Cut carbs. Eat six meals a day. Skip breakfast. Fast for 16 hours. Go keto. Count your points. All of it sounds really good in the moment. Some of it even gives quick results. But the real test is what your life looks like two, three, or five years down the line.
That’s where I want you to shift your focus. Not to the newest trend or the fastest path to weight loss, but to building something you can stick with. A way of eating and moving your body that fits into your daily life. Something that becomes part of who you are without consuming every thought you have.
This means letting go of popular opinion. It means looking at your own progress and being proud of it, even if it doesn’t look like the highlight reel you see on Instagram. You might be more consistent than you give yourself credit for. You might be further ahead than you think.
You also have to let go of the idea that perfection is required. Your process will never be perfect. You’ll have off days. You’ll remember old diets and feel tempted to go back. But if you’re setting minimum daily actions, tracking your goals, and adjusting when needed, you’re doing it right. You’re learning. You’re building a sustainable process.
Weight loss is a personal journey. It’s not about finding the “right” plan. It’s about building your plan. The one that works for your life, your body, and your preferences. And once you do that, the results will come. It just takes time.
