Hey there. If there’s one thing I keep coming back to, it’s this... the keys to progress in anything, especially weight loss, are hard work and patience. These two things are completely within your control. And the cool part is, both of them can be developed and adjusted over time.
Let’s start with hard work. This isn’t about perfection. It’s about your best effort. What you’re capable of right now will grow as you continue practicing. What you think is “perfect” today will eventually look like your new baseline. You just keep showing up and doing the work. That’s it.
In weight loss, hard work means planning your workouts and sticking to your eating plan as best you can. That includes the days where things don’t go perfectly. Because they won’t. But if you keep doing your best, the results will come.
I’ll give you an example. When I first recorded a short video for my site, it took me 45 minutes to record a 30-second clip. I kept restarting over tiny little pauses or filler words. That mindset of “do it over until it’s perfect” almost stopped me from ever publishing it. The truth is, just like with fitness, your progress is not about doing it over... it’s about doing it anyway.
Now let’s talk patience. This is the one most people struggle with. We want things now. But if you’re putting in your best effort, you’ve got to trust the process. You’ve got to believe that it’s working, even when you don’t see instant results.
Patience doesn’t come naturally for most of us. But you can develop it by simply being aware. When you feel that rush to get it done now, pause. Take a breath. Remind yourself that real progress takes time.
It’s funny how we can look at someone else and say they need to chill out and trust things will work out. But we rarely give ourselves that same grace. You need to treat yourself with that same mindset. Tell yourself to relax. Trust the process.
When you combine hard work with patience, everything changes. You enjoy the process. You build momentum. You stop obsessing over timelines. And the outcomes... they take care of themselves.
If this sounds like the kind of approach you’re ready to follow, join me in The YLF Experience. We’ll build this together, one day at a time.
