Hey there. For the longest time, stepping on the scale felt like an emotional rollercoaster. One number could make or break my mood for the entire day. And honestly, I know I’m not the only one who has felt this way. So I decided to try something that felt totally counterintuitive at the time. I started weighing in every single day.
At first, it wasn’t easy. The anxiousness didn’t disappear right away. I was still bracing myself every morning, waiting to see if the number would go up or down. But something unexpected happened over time. That number lost its emotional power. It just became a number. A data point. One piece of information that told me how my body was shifting, but didn’t tell the full story.
What I noticed through daily weigh-ins was the trend. And that’s what really matters. You start to realize that one day’s weight means very little. It could be influenced by water, sleep, stress, sodium, hormones, or any number of factors. But if you keep weighing in, and you stop attaching judgment to the number, you can step back and see a bigger picture.
Now I’ll be the first to say this method isn’t for everyone. If it causes more harm than good, it’s not worth it. But for some people, working through the discomfort of daily weigh-ins actually helps lessen the anxiety over time. It becomes part of the routine. Something neutral instead of something stressful.
And this got me thinking about other parts of the weight loss journey too. It’s not just the scale. We carry guilt and pressure around food choices. Around missed workouts. Around what we should be doing. And the only way to break free from that is to start asking ourselves where the guilt is coming from and how we can replace it with consistency, clarity, and compassion.
