Hey there. If you’ve lost the weight you wanted to lose, I want to start by saying congratulations. That’s a huge accomplishment. You’ve succeeded at something that many people are told they’ll never be able to do. And if you’ve maintained that weight loss for any stretch of time, months or years, you’ve continued to beat the odds. But now comes the real question… what’s next?
Most of us enter weight loss with a structured, habit-based plan. We focus on actions we can control to get the results we can’t directly turn on like a switch. That structure gives us a sense of direction, especially when things feel uncertain. But what happens when the curveballs come? What happens when life gets messy, when the old thoughts return, when fear of backsliding creeps in?
That’s where I want you to really connect with yourself. What’s been driving your actions lately? Is it joy, purpose, peace? Or is it fear, anxiety, guilt?
I’ve lived it. I’ve coached through it. And I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone stops running from the fear of going backward and starts building a calm, deliberate mindset moving forward. This is what I mean when I talk about the inside/out approach. The systems you’ve built are important, but they’re only as strong as the connection you have with yourself.
You can fall back into old patterns at any time. One injury, one meal, one moment of chaos can shake everything up. But if you’ve built a foundation that truly fits who you are, you can come back to it. Not because someone said you should. Not because you feel guilty. But because you’re ready.
This is your forever active lifestyle. If you’re in maintenance, you’re living it. And if you’re still in the weight loss phase, this mindset will help you make that transition when the time comes.
Whether you’re a coach or someone on your own journey, I encourage you to look inward. Get quiet. Talk to yourself. Journal. Say things out loud while you’re cleaning. Give love to the past version of you. That person is still with you today. And they need your acceptance just as much as the present version of you does.
Your habits matter. But how you feel about yourself underneath those habits matters even more.
If you’re ready to take this work further, I’d love to support you through one of the Your Level Fitness coaching programs.
