Appreciate Your Body Today, Love It Even More Tomorrow

Hey there. One thing I’ve learned from being in the fitness industry “and navigating my own journey” is, the way you feel about your body right now has everything to do with how you’ll feel about it in the future.

So often, we focus on what we don’t like about ourselves—the imperfections, the struggles, the parts of our bodies we’d rather change. And while it’s okay to have goals, there’s something transformational about loving and appreciating where you are right now.

Loving your body in the present doesn’t mean settling. It doesn’t mean you can’t want to get stronger, fitter, or healthier. It means showing gratitude for everything your body does for you—how it moves, heals, adapts, and carries you through life. It means recognizing that even in its current state, your body is worthy of care, kindness, and respect.

When you start from a place of love, everything else becomes easier.

The truth is, if you can’t find a way to appreciate the body you have today, no amount of transformation will ever feel “enough.” That’s a hard reality, but that’s how all of this. When you look in the mirror and say, “I appreciate you for everything you are and everything you’ve been through,” you start to shift your mindset from chasing an ideal to celebrating progress.

Imagine looking back a year from now, seeing how far you’ve come, and feeling even more love and appreciation for your body—not because it’s different, but because you nurtured it with intention. Loving your body right now is an investment in your future self.

So how do you get there?

  • Start with small acts of self-kindness. This is part of the logic behind the positive self-statement MDA.

  • Move in ways that feel good—dance, walk, lift weights, or stretch. Enjoy what your body can do. It’s ALL about your preferences

  • Pay attention to the language you use about yourself. Shift from criticism to encouragement.

  • Surround yourself with people who celebrate you for who you are, not for what you look like.

When you love the body you’re in, you set the foundation for a healthier, happier relationship with yourself. And that relationship is what fuels everything else—your fitness goals, your confidence, your ability to show up for yourself and others.

This mindset shift isn’t easy. In fact the fitness industry benefits from you not making it but it’s worth it. Because when you love the body you’re in right now, you’ll appreciate what it looks like later even more.
