Describe your weight loss journey.: After years of on and off effort to get ‘healthy’ or lose weight, I had lost a lot of hope. After but weighing in at over 340 in 2019, I realized I needed to act if I wanted to be the dad I want to and also to live the life I want to. So I started with simply tracking food, and regular movement. I lost 65 pounds slow and steady over 2 years. This year I’ve gained a bunch of that back, but I’m also balancing being present and the dad I want to be.

What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss process?: Realizing that every little bit counts and loving myself and the effort I put in. We don’t need to tackle unattainable goals daily, it’s the aggregate of many small actions.

What has that skill led to outside of weight loss?: The effort and recognition has helped how I deal with work and family. Trying hard produces results. Recognizing all efforts, regardless of size, produces even more.

What advice would you give to someone working through their weight loss journey?: Never forget why you deserve the effort. You have value. What is it? Write it down. You deserve to be fought for, by you first.

What's something most people don't know about you that has nothing to do with weight loss?: I have been a ski instructor since 2003.
