The Your Level Fitness Podcast 005: Chris Phillips
Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?:
What’s one action (or habit) you do almost daily?:
trying for at least 15,000 steps
What’s one of your normal routines?:
Well morning has changed up a bit nowadays, but I get up get breakfast ready, get the kids sorted with their online lessons, make some coffee and log on and do my work, lunch break I go for a run, then in the evenings I will go for a walk or a bike ride with the kids and light weights in the evenings.
How long did it take for the almost daily action and the above routine to stick? :
Getting into making exercises or movements a routine took me a good 2 months or so, of just forcing myself to do it now I look at it as just something I do daily, I can't say I like it but its like bruising my teeth or taking a shower it just something I do.
What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss journey?:
I have learned to be more disciplined, how to actually plan a day so more organized, also to be more content with slow results.
What has that skill lead to outside of weight loss?:
Being disciplined and planning out a day helps big time at home dealing with 4 boys also at work with projects as instead of attacking a project all at once I have learned how to break up issues throughout my work day and making big issues less stressful.
What have you learned about yourself over the last year or so?:
I have learned that I enjoy outdoors and being active going for walks and such,.years back I hated those things I would wonder like why would someone want to run a turkey trot or something like that, now I live for stuff like that.
What advice would you give to anyone that has restarted their weight loss journey within the last few months?:
I would tell him or her to set small goals, like ok I eat a tub of Häagen-Dazs every night, so starting this week I will 3 scoops in a bowl ect, don't do the whole okay Monday I am eating salad and turkey breast every night that approach never works.
What's one resource, tool or app you'd recommend to everyone? Please include a link if possible. (Doesn't have to be fitness related).:
Podcast is what I started with, prior to Instagram as I felt like I was alone in my journey (my wife never weighed above 130 in her life) so I wanted to hear stories from others who were going through the same struggles.
What are you working on now (or planning for the future)? Doesn’t have to be fitness related :
I was planning to enter another Spartan race on May 16th, a half marathon in June as well as a tough mudder but that doesn't seem like it is happening.
