You Don’t Need Guilt to Change

Hey there. For years I’ve watched the same dynamic play out in the fitness space. Coaches put out content that says “you just have to do it” and their audience either gets motivated for a moment or feel guilty and stop altogether. I’ve even said that phrase myself in the past. But here’s the thing… it’s way more complicated than that.

The truth is, follow through is nuanced. And when it comes to general weight loss, it’s not about information or knowing what to do. Most people already know that weight loss comes down to eating in a calorie deficit consistently. What really matters is why someone does it and whether they actually want to.

My goal is to help you build a routine that you want to follow for the rest of your life. That starts with understanding your preferences, your mindset, and how you see yourself. Fitness professionals are responsible for creating an environment that supports that. Not one that pressures you or talks down to you. You don’t need guilt. You need belief.

When I think about how I work with clients through The YLF Experience, it’s not just about handing someone a plan. It’s about modeling a calm, consistent approach and helping you develop that for yourself. You need to know you’re capable. You need to believe that starting small and being consistent will work. And you need the space to figure it out at your own pace.

This is also personal for me. I started building and sharing this inside/out approach before I was even ready to lose weight again. I was still doing the internal work. I was walking, creating content, and being honest about where I was. And when it came time to make external changes, they stuck because the foundation was solid.

So much of the fitness space has it backwards. We’re told to focus on plans, hacks, and transformations. But the most effective change comes from understanding our mindset, learning to follow through on what matters, and giving ourselves the margin to get back on track when things don’t go perfectly.

If you’ve struggled with staying consistent, it doesn’t mean you’re lazy. It means your approach might need to shift. And when you’re ready, I believe you’ll make that shift.

If you're ready for support, structure, and coaching that starts with where you are and builds from there, join The YLF Experience. It’s not just about what you’re doing. It’s about who you’re becoming.
