The Problem With “I’ll Show Them”

Hey there. What fuels your workouts? I’m not just talking about the food you eat, though that matters too. I mean the real fuel behind why you show up day after day. Are you doing it because you want to prove someone wrong? Are you carrying around anger, bitterness, or the idea of getting a revenge body?

I know that feeling because I’ve lived it. Growing up with CP, I was often called names. People questioned my physical abilities and even my intelligence. I was called retarded more times than I care to count. It hurt deeply, and for a long time, I let that anger drive me. I poured it into my workouts, my work, and every goal I set for myself. There were moments when I thought, “I’ll show them.”

And honestly, that mentality can push you to achieve things. You might look around one day and see that you’re more successful than you ever thought you’d be. But what happens when those people you’re trying to prove wrong don’t care anymore? What happens when they’ve moved on with their lives?

That’s where the danger lies. You’re left holding all that bitterness and chaos. Your mind is running nonstop, and even if you’re successful, you’re still at war with yourself.

Over time, I learned that there’s a better way. You can still channel those emotions into your workouts or your work. You can take that frustration and use it as a short-term push. But it can’t be the thing that fuels you every single day. That’s why I talk so much about working from the inside/out.

Operating from a calm, deliberate place in your mind changes everything. When your thoughts aren’t chaotic, you can build sustainable habits. You can enjoy your workouts rather than feeling like you’re always fighting.

Imagine going through life with eighty five percent of your days driven by peace and focus instead of anger and revenge. The people who doubted me years ago don’t live rent-free in my head anymore. I’ve moved on, and I’ve built a life where I’m connected with myself, proud of what I do, and focused on helping others do the same.

If you’re fueled by anger right now, I get it. I’d probably agree with you if you told me your story. But I also want you to know there’s another side to this. You’ve already won just by being here and working on yourself. Let’s keep going, but from a place of calm and connection.
