Hey there. I want to talk about something I hear all the time in the fitness world. People say that if you’re not getting the results you want, it must mean you don’t want it bad enough. Let me tell you, that’s just not true.
So many of you are thinking about your weight loss or fitness goals every single day. You absolutely want it. The problem isn’t your level of desire. The problem is the way the fitness industry has taught us to approach weight loss.
We’ve been taught a purely tactical and logical method. Eat this way. Exercise that way. Follow the plan exactly, and the results will come. And sure, tactics are important. You do have to take action. But the fitness world rarely talks about what’s driving those actions in the first place.
How do you feel about food? How do you feel about exercise? Do your preferences align with the program you’re trying to follow? Or are you trying to force yourself into something that worked for someone else?
I believe that’s why so many people struggle for years, if not decades. We’re given lists of things we should do, and we try to teach ourselves to like them, even if we don’t. Instead, I believe we should start with our preferences.
What do you actually enjoy eating? How do you like to move your body? Start there. Build your plan around those preferences, and then gradually add new things in. Keep what you love. Let go of what doesn’t fit.
We’ve been told that if we just grind hard enough, we’ll eventually learn to love the plan. But that’s not true for most people. If you’re forcing yourself to do things you hate, eventually your mind and body will rebel. You’ll burn out. You’ll start over again. And the cycle repeats.
I’ve been there myself. And I’m telling you, there’s another way. If you approach fitness from an inside/out perspective, you’ll build a foundation you can stick with for decades, not just months. You’ll avoid burnout because your plan is built on what you actually like and what feels right for you.
So if you’re stuck hearing that voice telling you that you just don’t want it enough, know this. You do want it. You always have. You just deserve to pursue it in a way that works for you.
If you’re ready to create a plan built on your preferences and to finally break out of the burnout cycle, let’s work together. You can learn more and get started through Your Level Fitness Coaching.
