Hey there. When I first started podcasting, I didn’t know if any of my ideas were worth sharing. The thought of putting myself out there, even for a three-minute solo segment, was daunting. But I made a deal with myself. For one month, I’d publish something every single day. At the time, I didn’t care about perfect execution. My goal was simply to take action and start.
I didn’teven hit a perfect streak that month…I missed one day 😅. Here’s what happened though, by the end of those 30 days, I believed in myself a little more. That belief wasn’t about being perfect or even particularly skilled. It was about proving to myself that I could do it.
Believe First, Act Second
Here’s something I’ve learned through podcasting, fitness, and life in general: you don’t gain confidence by waiting for it to magically appear. Confidence comes from doing the work. Start where you are, even if that means starting smaller than you think you should and commit to the reps. That’s how you build momentum.
For me, believing in myself didn’t come first. I had to take action before my mindset started to shift. But looking back, I realize how powerful it is to choose belief first. Tell yourself you’re capable, and then prove it with your actions.
This approach applies to everything! From fitness to blog posts to creating social content, to building a business, to being the architect of your own life. The key is to focus on the “why” behind your actions. Why are you taking steps forward, or why are you holding back? Understanding this is where the magic happens.
Overcoming Perfectionism
I’ve faced perfectionism in almost every area of my life until about a decade ago. In the fitness space, I worried about how people would perceive me because I have CP. Would they take cues from me, even if my squat didn’t look “perfect”? That insecurity held me back for a long time.
It was the same story when I started blogging. I created drafts, partially written posts, and endless ideas that never made it to publication because I thought they weren’t good enough. I spent so much time worrying about the perfect routine and the perfect output that I ended up with nothing to show for it.
What changed? I started doing the work, no matter how flawed, imperfect, and messy it was. Over time, I developed systems, improved my skills, and built consistency. Now, I publish multiple blog posts almost daily, and I no longer let the idea of “perfect” stop me.
Build Systems, Create Momentum
Consistency is about more than just showing up, it's about creating systems that make showing up easier. For podcasting, I developed a rhythm of recording two episodes daily. For blogging, I use tools like AI to create rough drafts that I refine into meaningful content.
These systems didn’t come overnight. They evolved through trial, error, and a willingness to embrace imperfection. But once I found a rhythm, everything clicked. Now, the work feels manageable and sustainable.
The Power of Starting Small
Whether it’s podcasting, fitness, or personal growth, the lesson is the same: start small. Start below your current capabilities if you have to. Just start. You’ll be amazed at the momentum you can build by taking consistent action.
If you’re hesitant about starting, ask yourself why. What’s holding you back? Fear of failure? Perfectionism? The idea that you’re “not good enough”? These are barriers we all face. But when you start to put in the reps, those fears lose their power.
