Hey there. I used to think the goal was to get to the “after.” Like once I hit a certain number on the scale or took that perfect transformation photo, everything would just click. I’d love my body. I’d feel confident. I’d finally be enough. But the truth is... even when I hit those numbers, that feeling didn’t show up the way I expected.
What I’ve come to realize is that appreciation for your body, and more importantly, for yourself, is a choice. And it’s a choice you have to make every single day. If you’ve ever stood in front of the mirror and torn yourself down, you know how strong that internal script can be. You’re already reinforcing beliefs every time you see your reflection. The question is... what kind of beliefs are you reinforcing?
For many of us, the negative thoughts didn’t just appear out of nowhere. They were planted years ago, often by someone close to us. Maybe it was a comment. Maybe it was the way someone looked at us. And without realizing it, we’ve spent years or even decades reinforcing that one small comment into a core belief.
But here’s the thing. If you can reinforce a negative belief for years, you can also choose to reinforce a positive one. You can choose to look at your reflection and speak kindness instead of shame. You can start with something as simple as a “build up session” in front of the mirror. Look into your eyes. Say something encouraging. Do it every day. Even when it feels silly.
This doesn’t mean giving up on your goals. You can still follow your fitness plan. You can still challenge yourself. But now you’re doing it from a place of appreciation instead of punishment. You’re not trying to earn your self-worth. You’re living it out loud.
So today, I’m asking you to make that choice. Choose to appreciate the body you have now. It’s the one that’s gotten you through every day so far. It’s carried you through wins, losses, and everything in between. That deserves acknowledgment.
If you’re ready to build a different mindset and start creating belief from the inside/out, I’d love to work with you. Let’s start building a plan that reinforces who you really are.
