Own Your Choices and Keep Moving Forward

Hey there. One of the biggest struggles in the weight loss journey isn’t just making the right choices—it’s how you respond to the ones you aren’t proud of.

I’ve seen it happen countless times. You’re following your plan, feeling good, and then one moment throws you off. Maybe you eat something that doesn’t align with your plan. Maybe you go over your calorie or point goal for the day. Maybe you step on the scale and see a number you don’t like. Suddenly, that one moment feels like it erased all your progress.

But here’s the truth—it didn’t.

One choice doesn’t undo everything you’ve worked for. Yet, many people let it spiral into guilt, frustration, and even the idea that they need to “restart” everything. You don’t. You just need to keep going.

Every day, you make dozens of choices related to your health and fitness. Some will be great. Others might not be. Instead of letting one choice derail you, own it and move on. That’s it. No guilt, no shame, no self-punishment. Either acknowledge it and continue forward or make a plan for how to handle it differently next time.

The hard part is training your mind to think this way. Most people in the weight loss community don’t practice this. They see one “bad” choice as a failure instead of just a single moment in time. But the people who truly succeed long-term? They have a completely different approach.

They don’t let every decision define their progress. They don’t let one misstep make them feel like everything is ruined. They own their choices and move forward.

I won’t pretend this is easy. It takes time. You’ll slip up and fall into old patterns, but when that happens, I want you to hear my voice telling you—it doesn’t matter. Own what you did and move on.

Every time you practice this, it gets easier. And before you know it, you’ll stop seeing food choices, workouts, or even weigh-ins as “good” or “bad.” You’ll just see them for what they are—moments in a much bigger journey.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Where are you right now with your mindset around choices? Where would you like to be? Let’s talk about it.
