How to Reset Your Routine with a Simple Habit List

Hey there. This morning I started something I hadn’t done in a while… I began writing out my habit list. I was in the kitchen, cooking bacon, and thought why not use this moment to reflect on what’s actually working in my daily routine. After breakfast, I sat down and started jotting things down.

What I want you to do is the same. Grab a notebook or open a note on your phone and start listing the habits you already have. Start with the things you do almost automatically each day. These could be fitness-related, food-related, mindset-related, or just things that help you function better day to day.

You might even come across some habits that don’t feel helpful anymore. Instead of just writing them down as “bad habits,” write one or two simple actions that could take their place. For example, if you find yourself eating past fullness out of boredom, write down something like “pause and check in before snacking” or “drink a glass of water and walk for five minutes.”

Keep it realistic. Don’t jump into extreme goals. The same way you built your current good habits slowly, you’re going to do the same with these new ones. That’s how sustainable change happens. Small steps repeated consistently.

You’ll probably notice you’ve already tried to change some of these habits before. That’s normal. You’ve likely already come up with strategies that worked for a bit or helped you reset. That experience counts. It’s not a failure… it’s knowledge you can use now.

To make your list even more useful, highlight or bold the new habits you’re trying to build. Let them stand out on the page. That way, when you check back in, you’ll see what’s new and what’s already part of your routine.

What this does is create clarity. It reminds you that you’re already doing more than you probably realize. You’re not starting from scratch. You’re building on a strong base.

Falling back into good habits doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly. It means focusing on what works, adjusting what doesn’t, and keeping things simple and manageable. That’s how your actions turn into routines, and your routines turn into results.
