From the Inside Out

Hey there. When it comes to weight loss, the conversation is almost always centered on physical transformation. The number on the scale. The before and after photos. The smaller clothes. But here’s the truth I’ve learned, both through my own experience and through coaching others… none of that matters if you don’t work on the relationship you have with yourself.

The transformation that really matters is the one that happens from the inside out. You can lose weight and still be just as unhappy as you were when you started. If you don’t develop self-respect, patience, and self-awareness along the way, the physical results won’t bring the peace you're hoping for.

For many people, part of the inside-out process includes getting professional counseling. I’ve talked about this on my podcast, including in a recent conversation with Rachel. Counseling isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a strength. It gives you the space to work through your thoughts without worrying about judgment or external expectations. Sometimes, just knowing that the person you're talking to has no day-to-day investment in your life is freeing.

One of the biggest realizations I’ve had is that the habits you build while trying to lose weight can apply to every part of your life. Discipline, patience, and flexibility are skills you learn when you push through a workout you didn’t want to do. Or when you decide to rest instead of push yourself too hard. These are all parts of the process.

That’s why I say the weight loss is just the gateway. The real progress is internal. If you only focus on what you look like, you’ll miss the growth happening between your ears.

And if you’ve been chasing a goal weight thinking that will finally make you happy, I want to tell you this: You’re already enough. You always have been. Accepting where you are right now is not the same as giving up. You can be proud of who you are today while still working toward your goals.

So next time you're scrolling through Instagram on Transformation Tuesday, remember that your process is your own. The number on the scale is just one piece. The real transformation is how you’re learning to treat yourself.
