YLF 087: Chat with Amanda

Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?: I’m active on IG @A.Irvin82

Describe your weight loss journey.: I’ve spent so many years trying to lose weight. I would have some of the pieces of the puzzle figured out, but never all of them at the same time. In Feb 2021 I started 75 Hard and completed the whole Live Hard program. That was the game changer for me. I was missing the mental toughness aspect of it.

What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss process?: Learning that I can do the hard things and that it’s okay to be selfish and focus on improving yourself. It’s necessary to become the best version of yourself for those around you. I’ve learned how important it is to have a close tribe of supportive people.

What has that skill led to outside of weight loss?: It has carried over to so many different areas of my life. When I don’t feel like doing something my mind automatically is like, “you can do this Amanda. Remember yesterday when you got walked outside in freezing weather for 45 mins?” You learn to live with that no excuses mindset. I’ve also learned how to be able to tell people “no” and not even think twice about it.

What advice would you give to someone working through their weight loss journey?: Consistency is key! If you stop, you will end up right back where you started at. Find those supportive friends and people in your life. They are so important on the hard days.

Things take time. Change doesn’t happen overnight. Find what works for you and stick with it.

What's something most people don't know about you that has nothing to do with weight loss?: People close to me know this, but I absolutely love ice hockey. It is my dream one day go visit every NHL arena and see the Flyers play there.
