Hey there. If you have struggled to develop a consistent exercise habit, it might be time to consider morning workouts. I know people like to say, “Do what works best for you,” but let’s be real—if your current approach is not working, something needs to change.
If your job starts at 6, 7, or even 10 a.m., getting up earlier could be the key to finally sticking to a workout routine. Your day does not officially start until you wake up, so why not wake up a little earlier and make exercise part of your morning routine?
How to Make Morning Workouts Stick
The key to making morning workouts a habit is setting yourself up for success. Here’s how:
Wake up at least an hour before your workout. If you plan a 30-minute workout, give yourself a full hour. This prevents you from feeling rushed and helps ease you into the habit.
Expect some tough mornings. There will be days when you do not want to do it. Get up anyway. Even if the workout is not perfect, just showing up for yourself builds consistency.
Commit to this for at least two months. Habits take time. Give yourself eight weeks to adjust before deciding if morning workouts are right for you.
Keep it simple. You do not need a complex workout plan. A walk, bodyweight exercises, or a quick gym session will do. The goal is consistency, not perfection.
Why Mornings?
A lot of people plan to work out after work, but life happens. You get stuck late at work, social plans pop up, or you just feel too drained by the end of the day. When you work out in the morning, nothing gets in the way. You start your day with a win, and that energy carries through the rest of your schedule.
The Challenge
If you have not been able to develop a consistent exercise routine, I challenge you to try morning workouts for the next two months. Pick a time, set your alarm, and commit. Some days will be easier than others, but stick with it.
