Streaming Workouts On Your Terms

Hey there. Streaming workouts are one of my favorite tools for staying consistent with fitness. I love how convenient they are. You can do them pretty much anywhere, especially at home, and most don’t require much equipment. It’s such an easy way to fit exercise into a busy schedule without having to plan your entire day around it.

But there’s one thing I want you to keep in mind. Just because a program says 21 days or 60 or 90 days doesn’t mean you have to finish it in that exact time. Yes, if you follow a plan start to finish without missing a beat, you’ll probably see results. But more importantly, you want to make sure the workouts actually fit into your life.

If it takes you 94 days to complete a 90-day program or 112 days or even longer, that’s fine. Missing a few workouts isn’t the end of the world. Life happens. Work gets hectic. You get sick. You travel. Just pick back up where you left off and keep going.

The fitness community around these programs can be super encouraging. Whether it’s Beachbody, Fitness Blender, or another service, they often have strong online support that helps you stay motivated. That’s awesome. But even with all that positivity and accountability, remember the program is not the boss. You are.

It’s okay to mix two programs together. It’s okay to do part of a workout and modify the rest. Most of these programs include modifications, but you might still need to adjust for your own body and fitness level. You may do fewer reps, take longer breaks, or use lighter weights. That’s all part of building a routine that works for you.

For a while I did almost nothing but home workouts. Some were my own and others were streamed. I liked the variety and the convenience. Even now that I go to the gym, I still think streaming workouts are a great tool to have. They keep things fresh and flexible.

What matters most is remembering this is your plan. Not the trainer’s plan. Not the streaming service’s plan. Yours. So make it work for you and keep going.
