Becoming Your Own Biggest Fan Starts Here

Hey there. When it comes to fitness, weight loss, or really any personal goal, one of the most important things you can do is improve the way you talk to yourself. That internal dialogue can make or break how you feel about your progress. The wild thing is, even the most upbeat people still have negative thoughts and self-doubt. The difference is, they’ve built up some tools and habits that help them manage it.

I used to think I had to be positive all the time. Now I know that’s not the goal. The goal is to be aware of the thoughts I’m having and do what I can to shift toward a more supportive, encouraging mindset. I’ve been using a few small daily reminders and actions that have made a huge difference for me, and I want to share those with you.

The first is a reminder I set to go off with my morning alarm. It simply says “Say thank you.” That’s it. It gets me thinking right away about what I’m grateful for. Sometimes it’s big stuff like family or work opportunities. Sometimes it’s small stuff like coffee or a good night of sleep.

The second is a reminder that hits mid-day to list out what’s going right. It could be one thing, maybe three, but it helps me shift from overwhelm to perspective.

And then at night, instead of writing down the next day’s to-do list, I focus on what I’ve already accomplished. Even small wins count. It helps reinforce that I’m not falling behind. I’m just moving at my own pace.

Another thing that’s helped is literally looking at myself in the mirror and saying “I love you.” Even when I don’t feel it. Even when I don’t believe it. Because eventually, with practice, that voice starts to soften. And it starts to become real.

None of this is about being perfect. It’s about becoming someone who supports yourself more than you criticize yourself. And that shift? It changes everything.
