DLF 003: Here I Am Pics

Today’s new wrinkle as I start keeping these logs is that I got on the scale and took a body picture of myself in gym shorts without a shirt. Many would consider this a progress pic but as I think about the approach that I have towards health and fitness I want to change the name of these to “Here I Am” pics - HIA’s for short. 😏My thought behind this is that when someone posts their progress pics, they view it as a before or during pic. This often means the body they have now isn’t what they want it to be. This on its own isn’t necessarily a bad thing but the guilt associated with how they look at these pics, along with the number on the scale is what I want to end as soon as possible. Not everyone feels guilty about the current state of their body, but many do.

The thing that’s easy to forget is that whatever actions you have taken in the past have put you where you are in this very moment. This is something that I think we should look at as neutral almost as if we’re taking a step outside of ourselves and observing without emotion. I think all feelings of guilt associated with where we are at currently should be let go of. In their place these two things:

  1. An experimental point of you looking at our actions as nothing more than actions and something we can learn from.

  2. We should also be be proud of ourselves for getting to this point in our life. Life is hard and many times there have been other priorities more important than getting in shape. You made the choices you felt were best at the time in the past. In most cases, you probably learned from them. Fitness is part of your life but there’s a good chance it’s not the main focus, which is okay.

Today’s workouts were fine. I did shoulders at the gym for about 20 minutes, took about a 45 minute walk outside and did today’s DDP yoga.
