Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?: Instagram @jared_yelverton
Describe your weight loss journey: After 15 years of being overweight, lazy, and full of excuses, 2018 was life changing for me. With my 3rd daughter on the way, I received results from some bloodwork that spelled a death sentence if drastic changes were not made.
I lost 70 lbs in 4 months at the end of 2018, and shortly afterwards, I began training to get my overall physical health back which led to preparing for American Ninja Warrior. Covid in 2020 ruined the first tryout for me, then I learned some things about the company that I wanted no part of, so I decided to move to something else that would push me physical and that I had a passion for.
In 2021 I started training with a local independent professional wrestling company and have been a part of the promotion for about a year now, with plans to have an in ring debut sometime next year. Much like Diamond Dallas Page, who we discussed in the last podcast, I'm starting a wrestling career later in life.
What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss process?: I have learned how my body works, my metabolism, my muscle memory, and my body's predisposition to food addiction. Sugar has been my worse enemy and water has been my saving grace.
What has that skill led to outside of weight loss?: More accountability for myself and the ability to adapt quicker to situations that I may have a little control over.
What advice would you give to someone working through their weight loss journey?: Everybody is different so following someone else's exact plan may not work. Find what works for your body type that you can actually stay consistent with. At the same time, don't use that as a crutch to make excuses. Some things you just have to push through.
What's something most people don't know about you that has nothing to do with weight loss?: There's not much about me that people don't know if they have followed me for any extended amount of time. I'm always an open book.
