Trigger Foods Lose Power When You Own Them

Hey there. If you’ve spent years going on and off diets, trying to follow plans that never seem to stick, I want you to try something different. I want you to build an eating plan with your name on it. Seriously...name it after yourself. This is your plan. It’s based on your preferences, your lifestyle, and what you’re actually willing and able to do right now.

The first thing I’ll say is this. Nothing is off limits. I mean that. Not in a “cheat day” kind of way. I mean truly off the table for restriction. If you’ve struggled with so-called trigger foods, it might sound unrealistic to eat what you want. But I’ve lived it. I’ve eaten the full pack of cookies. I’ve gone through the box of Snickers. But over time, when something is no longer forbidden, it starts to lose its grip.

You may still enjoy those foods, but you learn you’re in control. And that’s what this is really about. Taking ownership. Calling your current season what it is and realizing you’re still in charge. Even if you’re in a stage of life where you're not eating vegetables and can’t think about tracking anything... that’s still part of the plan. You’re not failing. You’re identifying your baseline.

The Your Name Eating Plan evolves. Your preferences will shift. Your routines will change. And as you gain awareness, you’ll start to notice patterns. What do your normal days look like? What do off days look like? Do you graze or stick to meals? Are you eating out or cooking at home? Just observe. That’s all I ask at first.

Eventually, you’ll naturally want to start improving things. You’ll add some fruits and vegetables. Maybe drink more water. You’re not taking anything away. You’re just improving what’s already there. The more you lean into what works for you, the more sustainable this becomes.

If it takes you a year or three to figure it all out, would you trade that time for decades of peace with food? I would. I did. And now I help others build a plan that fits their life from the inside/out.

You’re the architect of your eating plan. Start designing it like it.
