Hey there. I want to remind you of something that can completely shift how you view your weight loss journey. You are your own body standard. Not the version of you from five years ago. Not someone you follow online. Not the expectations coming from the fitness industry. Just you.
It starts with acceptance. That might feel like a big leap, especially if you’re used to tearing yourself apart when you look in the mirror or when clothes don’t fit quite right. But that moment you decide to stop judging and start accepting… that’s the beginning of something sustainable.
I’ve been in this space for a long time. I know how easy it is to internalize body shame. You’ve been told you’re not good enough. That you need to change. That your body needs to meet a certain standard in order to be accepted or celebrated. But here’s the truth. You don’t need to measure up to anyone. Bodies are different. Always have been. Always will be.
Your body is worthy right now. Not when you hit a goal weight. Not after you complete a program. Right now. I’m not saying it’s easy to feel that way, but I am saying it’s possible. And the more you practice, the easier it gets.
That’s where habits come in. I recommend doing mirror build up sessions. Stand in front of the mirror, look at yourself, and talk to yourself with kindness. Replace those automatic criticisms with something neutral at first, then move toward appreciation. Journaling helps too. Sit with your thoughts. Write down what you’re learning about yourself. One of the best ways to do this is by getting outside. That connection with your surroundings can help you reconnect with yourself.
You might still have moments where it feels hard. That’s normal. This is not about pretending everything’s perfect. This is about building a respectful relationship with your body and yourself.
You are your own body standard. And you get to rewrite the rules.
If you’re ready to work on that with a coach who gets it and builds with you from the inside/out, I’d love to help. You can sign up here.
