Hey there. When I think about weight loss and fitness, I don’t just think about workouts, calories, or even body composition. I think about who we believe we are and how we decide to show up. That is the real starting point.
For years, I thought the industry had it right. Lose weight, look better, and then you’ll feel confident. But I’ve learned that it doesn’t work like that. Confidence doesn’t come after the result. Confidence starts with a decision. You choose who you are first, and then you take daily actions to reinforce that belief. That’s the foundation of the inside/out approach.
I’ve been around this industry for a long time, and I’ve seen the way it markets to our insecurities. I’ve also lived with a body impacted by cerebral palsy, which has given me a perspective on what really matters. I’m not here to tell you “if I can do it, you can too.” I’m here to tell you that your experiences, your history, and your relationship with your body are real. And you don’t deserve to live in a mental prison built by years of negative self-talk or other people’s opinions.
Think about the messages you’ve been told. If you just lost the weight, you’d be more attractive. If you just looked a certain way, you’d finally feel good about yourself. Those comments might have stuck with you, and over time, you may have reinforced them through your own thoughts. But here’s the thing. Just like you’ve reinforced negative beliefs, you can start reinforcing positive ones. You can start telling yourself a different story.
And that story starts with a choice. You decide who you are and who you want to be. You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to have all the answers. What you need is the willingness to decide and then take the next small action to back it up. Each action you take is reinforcement of the belief you’ve chosen.
This is why I ask people to give me ten minutes a day. Subscribe to the podcast, read the Daily Email, and use those resources to set goals and build structure. Ten minutes a day is enough to start shifting how you see yourself. If you want to do it at your own pace, that’s where you start. If you want more guidance, accountability, and support, that’s where The YLF Experience comes in.
I want you to remember this. Confidence is not something you wait for. Confidence is a choice. You make it first, and then you reinforce it each and every day.
