Own Your Story and Move Forward

Hey there. When I think about the journey many of us have been on with weight loss, I realize just how important it is to own your story. If you are like me, you have probably been on this path for years, maybe even decades. You may have had periods where you were consistent, times where you stopped altogether, and even times when you reached your goal only to look in the mirror and not like what or who you saw. That feeling is one of the biggest traps in the fitness industry. The industry profits off of our insecurities. My answer has always been the inside/out approach.

I have lived this approach because I had no other choice. I am a fitness professional who has also worked in marketing and advertising for as long as I have been in fitness. On top of that I live with cerebral palsy, which impacts most of my body. No matter how strong I got or how lean I became, I had to learn to love my body from the inside/out. What I teach you is not a gimmick. It is a skill. It is a daily choice to value and accept yourself as you are while you work on the things you want to change.

Owning your story means appreciating everything that has led you to this point. That includes the choices you would celebrate and the ones you might regret. If you look back and wish you had done things differently, that is fine. Own it. Then take the action now that you wish you had taken then. Your plan for eating, exercise, and self appreciation will stretch across decades. This is a rest of your life process.

The mistake many people make is trying to run from themselves by doing all the things at once. That never works. If every level of success you have reached was built on not liking yourself, you start to believe that discontent is what drives you. It is not. True success happens when you connect with yourself, appreciate yourself, and then move forward with calm deliberate action. That heaviness you have carried will start to fade. You will not feel frantic. You will feel steady.

So I encourage you to own your story. Celebrate what you can. Accept what you wish was different. Start making changes today that reflect the life you want moving forward. You are not broken. You have always been enough.
