YLF: 051 Chat with Genna
Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?: Instagram
What’s one habit you do almost daily?: Taking time for myself. It can be from going to get a coffee, reading, or just laying and snuggling my dogs. Anything to just decompress for a minute.
What’s one of your normal routines?: In the morning I like to go to the gym. I try and have all my clothes ready to go so I can jump out of bed and get ready fast. I get my pre workout and drink it on the way. On the way home from the gym I talk to my dad while he drives to work. I get home, eat breakfast and feeds my dogs before logging into work.
How long did it take for the above routine to stick? : It took a few weeks. When covid happened and the gym was gone it messed it up. I would just go for walks in the morning but I was not very consistent. Now that the gym is back I’m about a month on of a solid routine again.
Describe your weight loss journey.: I have been battling my weight my entire life. But this past year I had the duodenal switch done. The beginning was a rocky start. I ended up septic and had to have emergency surgery. I almost died. The first few months I was in and out of the hospital. But now I down 215 lbs and 93 inches.
What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss journey?: I don’t know if you would call it a skill but I have changed my mindset.
What has that skill led to outside of weight loss?: It has allowed me to see every aspect of my life different. It has changed relationships with people, food, and myself. I process things differently which allows me to have a different reaction.
What have you learned about yourself over the last year or so?: That I am worthy of happiness. I have learned how strong I am and I can do anything I set my mind to. I already learned how much my weight was holding me back. I mean I knew it but seeing how great I feel now makes me truly see how much I made myself suffer.
What advice would you give to someone working through their weight loss journey?: Be patient and do not compare yourself to others journeys.
What resources would you recommend listeners check out?: Crunchy sleever on ig ... She has great recipes but also has a lot of post that help me mentally. She puts out these thoughts that really challenge me to grow.
What are you working on now?: I still have 65 pounds to go but I am really trying to transition into strength training. I am also trying to grow in my knowledge on food to expand my meals. My meals are very boring.
Is there anywhere else you’d like to point listeners to? Please provide link if possible: I am reading a great book untamed. I think a lot of women would like it. I also enjoy the American glutton podcast.
