You’re Not Behind

Hey there. I used to spend a lot of time comparing my progress to other people.

I would look at what they were doing, how fast they were moving, and how much they seemed to achieve. And every time I did that, I felt like I was behind. Like I was not doing enough. Like there was something wrong with my pace. It took me a long time to realize that none of this was true. I was not behind. I was running my own race.

This shows up in so many areas of life. We start comparing ourselves to people who are living completely different lives. We do not know their history, their circumstances, or their struggles. Yet somehow we take their timeline and overlay it onto ours and use it as a measure of our value. That creates stress. It creates doubt. And it creates pressure that does not belong to us.

One of the biggest blind spots we have is that we cannot see our own progress clearly. We think we are not doing enough because we see all the messy parts of our journey. But we forget to notice our consistency, our resilience, and the skills we are developing along the way. Fitness taught me this first. Every rep, every walk, every logged meal, they add up even when we do not feel them adding up. It is the same with life. Every small action shapes who you are becoming.

Another blind spot is that we underestimate our resilience. We think because we took a break or had a setback that it means something negative about us. But it does not. You are still here. You are still showing up. Even if you took days or months or years away from something, the fact that you pick it back up says everything about your character. You have gotten through every challenge you have faced and you are still moving forward. That matters.

The more you trust yourself, the more your perspective begins to shift. You stop seeing obstacles as reasons to quit and start seeing them as part of the process. You stop letting perfection distract you from the basics. You stop letting comparison convince you that your pace is wrong when your pace is exactly right for your life. Running your own race is about honoring your path, your progress, and your pace.

If you feel behind, you are not. If you feel stuck, you are not. If you feel like everyone else is moving faster than you, remember that your race is yours. And it will unfold in the timing it is meant to.

If you want support, structure, and a grounded inside/out approach while you run your race, join The YLF Experience. You deserve to feel confident and capable on your path.
