Your Results Are a Byproduct

Hey there. If you’re new to the YLF message or just getting back into it, this is a great time to revisit what it really means to approach health and fitness from the inside/out. You’ve probably heard that success in this space comes down to habits and focusing on what’s within your control. And that’s true. But it’s only part of the story.

What I really want you to understand is that your results are always the byproduct of your actions. Whether you’re working toward weight loss, improving your body composition, or chasing a personal goal, those outcomes don’t happen on their own. They’re driven by what you do consistently over time. That part’s pretty straightforward.

What gets tricky is when we start obsessing over the outcome itself. I’ve seen it over and over. People set a weight loss goal and then get frustrated when it doesn’t happen fast enough. But here’s the truth. You can’t control how quickly the result shows up. You can only control how you show up. That means your daily actions need to be the focus. Not the number on the scale.

But even deeper than that, you need to pay attention to how you’re approaching this journey mentally. Are you feeling calm and deliberate? Or rushed and frustrated? Are you owning the process or waiting for the perfect plan to fall into place? Your mindset determines how consistent you are. And consistency is a skill you can absolutely develop.

So yes, build your habits. Focus on what you can control. But also take a step back and check in with your mindset. Because that’s the part that fuels everything else. When you approach your goals from a place of ownership and calm, you’re more likely to take the right actions for the long term. That’s what the inside/out process is all about.
