Hey there. One thing I say all the time is that the world is your fitness playground. If you're trying to lose weight, yes, you need to exercise and follow an eating plan consistently. But how you do that? That’s completely up to you. The beauty of where we are now is that you have more options than ever. You can stream workouts at home, join a gym, walk outside, hit group classes, or mix and match whatever fits your life.
The problem is we often doubt ourselves before we even get started. We think that if the first few days or weeks of a routine feel clunky or unfamiliar, then we must be doing it wrong. That’s not true at all. Anytime you’re building something new, there’s going to be some discomfort. But if you stick with it, within a few weeks it starts to feel like part of your life.
And when it comes to food, same thing. You can follow keto, Weight Watchers, paleo, or flexible dieting. Or you can build your own plan around the foods you actually enjoy. Start with fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and then mix in the stuff you like. I’m a big fan of using MyFitnessPal to track food, especially early on. Don’t let the calorie suggestion from the app freak you out. Just use it as a guide and pay attention to what you’re actually eating. That’s the important part.
What I really want is for you to take ownership of your process. Don’t just follow a prepackaged plan because it’s what’s trending. Ask yourself what works best for you. What do you enjoy? What fits into your life without overwhelming it?
And if you’re already following a program, that’s totally fine too. Just make sure it can evolve with you. Your needs and preferences will change over time. You should be able to adjust as you go.
This is all about building something sustainable. Something you can live with long term. So treat this like your own personal project. Test things. Adjust things. Keep going.
I’d love to hear what your plan looks like. How much of it have you built yourself? What’s working and what’s not? Message me on Instagram or head over to yourlevelfitness.com.
