You Are Your Own Body Standard

Hey there. For years I chased body standards that were never meant for me. I compared myself to the images I saw in magazines, online, and even to the versions of me I thought I needed to become. And like many of you, I told myself that once I hit a certain weight or looked a certain way, I’d finally be happy.

That moment never came.

Because no matter how much progress I made, it wasn’t enough. The goals kept moving, the insecurities stayed, and the sense of fulfillment I thought I’d feel never showed up. What changed everything for me was the realization that I don’t have to chase anyone else’s standard. I get to be my own.

This is not just about being body positive. It’s about accepting reality and owning it. It’s about looking in the mirror and appreciating your body not because it looks like someone else’s, but because it’s yours. It’s carried you through everything. It has adapted. It has survived. It has evolved. And it deserves to be loved and appreciated at every single stage.

The fitness industry has profited for decades by convincing us that we’re not enough. That the reason we don’t feel good is because we don’t look a certain way. But that entire structure was never designed to build your self-worth. It was designed to keep you buying the next program or product.

What if you did the opposite? What if you started from a place of appreciation instead of criticism? What if instead of hating your reflection, you learned to love it? Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s real. Because it’s you.

This is how I approach fitness now. This is how I coach. Yes, we still set goals. We track progress. We make adjustments. But it’s not rooted in shame or punishment. It’s rooted in preferences, honesty, and self-love.

You can challenge yourself and be kind to yourself at the same time. You can want to grow while still being proud of where you are. It takes time to unlearn the lies we’ve been told, but the payoff is worth it. Because when you become your own body standard, you take your power back.

If you’re ready to do this differently, I’m here to help. Join one of the Your Level Fitness coaching programs and let’s build your process together.
