Hey there. We all get caught up in the little things. Whether it’s tracking calories, a tough workout, or a stressful situation at work, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed in the moment. But if you step back and ask yourself, “Is this really going to matter in a few years?” you might realize that a lot of the things we stress over aren’t as big as they seem.
I’ve had plenty of moments where I felt like I wasn’t executing things the way I wanted. Whether it’s missing a podcast episode, feeling off track with my routine, or just dealing with unexpected life stuff, I’ve been there. But looking back, I can see that none of those moments defined my long-term progress. And that’s the key—understanding that what seems overwhelming now is just a small part of the bigger picture.
When you have enough life experience to reflect on past struggles, you realize that the things you worried about in your 20s don’t seem so important now. The same will be true for what you’re stressing about today. That doesn’t mean challenges aren’t real, but it does mean that you have time to figure things out, learn from them, and move forward.
A big part of this applies to fitness. A single weekend of eating more than you planned isn’t going to ruin your progress. A missed workout doesn’t mean you’ve failed. We’re always in a rush to reach the next phase, to hit a certain weight, or to accomplish a goal as fast as possible. But if you consistently show up and do your best over time, you’ll get where you need to be.
Life will always throw curveballs, and you’ll keep facing new challenges. The good news is that each experience makes you better equipped for the next one. The things that feel impossible today will be lessons that make future obstacles easier to navigate.
So here’s what I want you to think about—are the things stressing you out right now really worth the worry? In a year, five years, or even ten, will this moment define you? Or will it just be another step in the process?
