Hey there. Let’s talk about what to do when you feel like you’re on The Struggle Bus. You know the feeling. Life is loud, responsibilities are piling up, and you’re overwhelmed before the day even starts. When it comes to your health and fitness goals, it can feel impossible to get your footing.
As the trainer in your ear, here’s my best advice for those moments. Slow down. Even if it’s just for one minute. Ten minutes if you can. Take a breath and hit pause on the chaos. Then, simplify. Break everything you’re working on down to the bare basics.
Whether it’s weight loss, building a workout habit, or managing your daily schedule, ask yourself this: what’s the simplest version of this that I can handle right now? And then ask yourself another question: can I do this consistently without anxiety or dread? If the answer is no, scale it back even more. The goal is to get to a place where your habits feel manageable. You want to get to the point where they almost run on autopilot.
Let’s talk weight loss for a second. It doesn’t require a strict diet plan. You don’t need someone else’s rules. What works best is building an eating plan around your own preferences. When you’re the architect of your routine, you’re much more likely to stick with it. And when life happens and you need to adjust, you won’t feel like you’ve failed some rigid system.
Same goes for exercise. What can you do consistently? Can you walk your neighborhood? Can you get to the gym a few times a week? Can you stream a 20-minute workout at home? Don’t overcomplicate this. Just start with what fits your life.
And don’t forget about the rest of your day. Lifestyle management matters too. How are you handling stress? How are you setting yourself up to follow through on the things you need to get done? These are things we often overlook when we feel stuck, but they make a huge difference in how overwhelmed we feel.
If life feels like too much right now, slow down and simplify. Build your habits from the ground up. You’ve got this. And if you want some help making it all fit together in a way that works for you, join The YLF Experience. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
