Hey there. When it comes to making progress in your fitness journey or anything else you are working on, the people around you matter. A lot. But here's the thing I really want to drive home. It is not just about being surrounded by positive people. It is about being surrounded by people who take action and also have a positive mindset. In that order.
You can find plenty of people who tell you to just be positive. You might even follow some on social media. But if those same people are beating themselves up all the time and constantly putting out negative messages about how they are struggling or restarting every few days, that becomes part of the message too. And if you're watching that enough, you start to believe that is what success looks like.
But the people who are actually pushing forward, who are taking consistent action and still manage to stay mostly positive about it... those are the ones to watch.
They are not perfect. None of us are. But they make a decision, they follow through, and if things do not go exactly how they wanted, they own it and move on. That is the energy you want around you. Not perfectionism. Not constant shame spirals. Just people who are doing the work, learning as they go, and not letting one bad meal or missed workout derail them.
That kind of mindset is contagious. When you see others handling life with that kind of resilience and balance, it helps you build the same in your own process. You start focusing more on what you are doing right. You stop obsessing over being perfect. You start taking ownership of your choices without beating yourself up. And it makes a huge difference.
So if you do not have people like that in your circle, reach out. Let me know. I know a ton of folks that bring that kind of energy. I would be more than happy to connect you with them.
