Hey there. If you're trying to build a personal brand on social media, especially in the health and fitness space, the most important thing I can tell you is this... your brand is not your handle. It’s not your bio. It’s not your follower count. Your brand is your actions.
What matters most is how you show up for others. How you respond to comments. How you send that thoughtful DM to someone who is struggling. How you support your community through real conversations instead of copy-and-paste quotes or spammy engagement tactics.
When I started building Your Level Fitness, I spent way too much time trying to figure out the right name. I almost went with “Junk in the Trunk Fitness” just for fun. But ultimately, what mattered more than the name was the message I was putting out and how I was connecting with people. I realized early on that the magic wasn't in my branding... it was in my interactions.
This goes for anyone trying to grow on social. If you want to build trust and deepen connections, be personal. Be real. Comment with intention. Ask questions. Share experiences. If you see someone struggling, don’t just type “You got this.” Send them a message. Tell them how you relate. Ask how you can help.
All of this adds up over time. Real brands are built through one-on-one connection. Not overnight. Not through gimmicks. Not by gaming algorithms. You have to care about people more than you care about followers.
The growth I’ve had with Your Level Fitness has happened because of conversations. Every post, comment, DM, and email is an opportunity to show someone that they matter. And when you do that consistently, you build something way more powerful than a follower count... you build trust.
If you’re in the fitness space and also trying to build your brand, keep showing up. Keep helping. Keep being human. The numbers will take care of themselves.
