Results Are a Byproduct, Not the Goal

Hey there. I used to think that if I just found the right program or the perfect plan, everything in my life would finally make sense. I believed that happiness and fulfillment were things I could only access once I changed what I looked like or achieved a certain number on the scale. What I’ve learned over time is that the real foundation starts within me. That’s the core of living an inside/out life.

When we’re caught up in chasing outside validation, we end up feeling like life is happening to us rather than for us. I know what it feels like to believe that life has the upper hand, that no matter what I try I’ll always be running behind. But when I shifted my perspective and started taking responsibility for my actions and my mindset, things began to change. I couldn’t control everything, but I realized I had way more influence over my life than I thought.

Fitness and weight loss are perfect examples of this. You can’t guarantee that doing a specific program will give you a set result in a set timeframe. You can’t say “this workout guarantees 20 pounds lost in three months.” But you can control the habits you build, the choices you make, and the effort you put in. And over time, those actions create the outcomes you’re looking for. The results become the byproduct of living intentionally.

What really flips the switch is how you approach this mentally. If you’ve always felt helpless in sticking to eating and exercise programs, it’s probably because those plans weren’t built around you. They were built around someone else’s idea of what should work. When you instead design your plan around your own preferences, things feel different. The process slows down in your mind. You feel calmer, more deliberate, and more in control. People around you may think you’re moving quickly, but inside it feels steady and sustainable.

And this doesn’t just change your fitness journey. It changes everything in your life. Taking ownership and responsibility doesn’t mean ignoring what’s outside of your control. It means acknowledging what you can influence and recognizing that even things you once thought were off limits often shift once you start building from within.

You are not just a witness to your life. You are the one steering it. And when you start from the inside and live outwardly, you realize that you’ve always been capable of more than you believed.
