Hey there. If you’ve been following along for any length of time, you’ve probably heard me talk about the “AFs” before. These are the three Always & Forever traits that I believe form the foundation for a sustainable health and fitness journey. They are Resilient AF, Confident AF, and Consistent AF. This framework has helped me stay grounded in my own process, and it’s one of the biggest things I try to pass on to others.
Let’s start with resilience. This one is simple, even though it might not always feel easy. You’ve been through a lot. You’ve started and stopped fitness programs. You’ve felt defeated, frustrated, and overwhelmed. But you’ve always come back. That alone proves how resilient you are. You don’t need to earn resilience. You just need to recognize that it’s already a part of who you are.
Then there’s confidence. This one hits hard because so many people think it has to be earned through physical changes. It doesn’t. Confidence has nothing to do with your weight or body composition. It’s a decision. You choose to see yourself in a certain way. You choose to believe in your worth. And once you make that choice, you reinforce it through your actions. You stop chasing external validation and start building belief from within.
And finally, we have consistency. This is the one that keeps things moving. But it only works when it starts with your preferences. If you force yourself into a diet or workout routine you hate, it won’t last. But if you build from the things you already enjoy, it becomes much easier to stay consistent. You can always layer in new challenges, but the base needs to feel like something you can keep doing. That’s the key.
These three traits work together. Resilience shows you that you’ve already overcome a lot. Confidence helps you believe in your ability to keep going. Consistency is the skill that makes progress stick. This is what living from the inside/out is all about.
If you want to start working on this in a more structured way, I’d love for you to join The YLF Experience. It’s built around helping you apply these ideas to your everyday life in a way that makes sense for you.
