From Pizza to Progress

Hey there. Yesterday was a candy and pizza kind of day. This is me being real with you because I think it’s important to show the full picture, not just the “on-track” days. I had planned ahead for meals, working off leftovers from Sunday night. I didn’t prep much this week, which is never ideal, and early in the day we decided we’d have pizza for dinner. Once I knew that, I saved my lunch for today instead of eating it.

Here’s the problem… sitting just a few feet away from me is the candy dish. This candy dish has been my greatest challenge since taking this desk job. I’ve always been a stress eater and when I stress, sugar is my go-to. I started grabbing from the dish. Tracked it all. It wasn’t an outrageous number calorie-wise, maybe 500 or 600, but it still left me feeling off. You know that candy crash. It hits.

Then came the pizza. Pizza Hut Supreme. Normally, I go for a medium, light cheese, but not last night. I lost track of how many slices I ate. Probably four or five. I skipped the crust but still… I crushed it.

Here’s what I didn’t do. I didn’t beat myself up about it. I didn’t hop on the scale this morning. I didn’t let yesterday dictate my entire week. Instead, I drank some black coffee, skipped breakfast because I wasn’t hungry, and went to the gym. It wasn’t about punishment. It was just about moving forward.

I’ve been here before. Back in June, I weighed 220 at a health screening. By August 1st, I was down to 203. I had still gone out for pizza, still had ice cream, but I kept making overall good choices. Avocado toast, sweet potatoes, workouts, tracking. That stuff adds up, and it works when you're consistent.

So today, I’m back at it. Water. Coffee. Gym. Tracking. And here's the big one… I’m smacking down the candy dish. I’m done with it. I may pack my own candy, but I’m not touching that dish again. Hold me to it. Seriously, send me a message and tell me to keep my hand out of it.
