Action Over Analysis

Hey there. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in information and reflection that we lose sight of the most important thing we can do to move forward… take action. I’ve seen this happen over and over again, not just with others, but with myself too. We collect data, evaluate our progress, overanalyze our decisions, and before we know it, we’ve spent hours thinking and zero time doing.

There’s nothing wrong with being self-aware. There’s nothing wrong with researching and reflecting. But if you’re not happy with where you are right now in your fitness or weight loss journey, the answer is simple. Take action.

Yesterday, I talked about owning your past. That’s a process. It doesn’t happen in a day. But while you're working through that emotionally and mentally, there’s a really effective next step you can take—get moving. Literally.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Start by writing out three clear action statements. One around exercise. One around eating. And one around a lifestyle habit.

For me, here’s what that looks like:

  • Exercise: A mix of strength, cardio, and flexibility for at least 30 minutes a day.

  • Eating: Stay under 2,200 calories and track my food.

  • Lifestyle: Aim to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.

These statements aren’t super detailed. They don’t have to be. I’m not mapping out my weightlifting sets or micromanaging every bite of food. I’m just giving myself a framework that I can follow when my brain wants to spin out into a thousand directions.

Tracking your food and workouts daily gives you clarity. Setting weekly goals gives you focus. Regular progress updates keep you moving. But all of those are add-ons to the most important thing… action.

If you’re stuck in a pattern of thinking but not doing, this is your chance to shift. Grab a piece of paper or open your notes app. Write those three statements. Then start living them.
