YLF 083: Chat with Erin

Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?: Instagram @erinleigh.vsg

Describe your weight loss journey.: My weight loss journey has been ongoing for about 20. I tried and failed a lot diets, I would lose weight and gain it back. In 2019 I decided to do weight loss surgery and had VSG/ vertical gastric sleeve surgery July 2020. During my pre-op phase I really learned to overcome my food and sugar addiction. Im 2 years post op and maintaining my 160lb weight loss.

What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss process?: Learning to listen to my body and to form a healthy relationship with food. I have added carbs back to my diet in moderation and that works well for me.

What has that skill led to outside of weight loss?: Realizing that I had more power and control than I thought I did, weight loss has helped me to see that. I’ve been able to gain my self confidence back and become more active and that’s truly empowering.

What advice would you give to someone working through their weight loss journey?: Be ready to commit to lifestyle changes, it’s a forever decision and will take consistent work.

What's something most people don't know about you that has nothing to do with weight loss?: I’m pretty introverted, I may not seem that way in social media but I enjoy quiet time, reading, podcasts and my personal space to relax.
