Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?: Instagram. @kbworksout

What’s one habit you do almost daily?: Start my day with a 1 mile walk with the dogs. It wakes me up and warms me up.

What’s one of your normal routines?: During quarantine, lunch break workout! Otherwise, morning workout before work.

How long did it take for the above routine to stick? : Months to years, and I still struggle with it occasionally.

Describe your weight loss journey.: I’ve been working out on and off since middle school when I was playing basketball and softball. In my first year of undergrad, I got to my highest weight of 240 and then yo-yo’d between about 175 and 215 for the next 3 years. In 2016, I got down to 155 through a combination of severe depression, over-working out, and under-eating. In law school (2016-2019) I gained it all back. Right now I’m working out daily, running 3 days a week, and counting calories. So it’s been a lot of ups and downs! Both physically and mentally.

What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss journey?:The skill to get back on the (metaphorical) horse! One bad day cannot be the end of progress. Every day is a new day to make the most of.

What has that skill led to outside of weight loss?: Well, I didn’t pass the DC bar exam on the first try, and I didn’t let that discourage me. I took the exam again in February, and I’m waiting for results. If I don’t pass again, I’ll take it as soon as it’s offered again! (Stupid covid-19)

What have you learned about yourself over the last year or so?: I can not restrict myself from eating the foods I enjoy most!! It always leads to binging for days/weeks on end. Everything in moderation.

What advice would you give to someone working through their weight loss journey?:Take it one day at a time. There will be great days, average ones, and BAD ones. The most important thing is to not let a bad days ruin the rest of your great ones! It’s a mindset thing.

What resources would you recommend listeners check out?: If you have Fitbit premium (they’re offering a 3 month free trial right now), they have some helpful articles and mini programs. There are also some fun fitness games to keep you active with your Fitbit friends.

What are you working on now?: Beachbody’s Insanity and running consistently 3 days a week.
