That scale number is not the real goal

The longer you focus on the scale number as the goal, the longer you’ll be in your own weight loss prison.

Can you hit a number while obsessing over it? Sure can. You won’t be able to maintain it though. Weight loss and maintenance are all about consistency. Can you follow the principles you’re doing now for the rest of your life? If you can, you’ll be able to maintain. If not, you won’t.

Fixating on the scale number as the goal - or let’s be honest, part of your self worth is a losing game. Trying to control something you can’t control zaps your mental energy and eventually leaves you so frustrated you want to quit. This isn’t a matter of motivation or willpower. Those things are sooooo overplayed within the dieting community it’s sad. This is all about taking action, then getting into routines that lead to you feeling competent. Once you feel competent, you can work on discipline. That’s the cousin of willpower that’s a whole lot more reliable. Nobody knows when willpower will decide to show up. The first step for you is to decide if you’re happy with how your progress is going. If you are, that’s excellent. Keep it up. If not, find out why. Challenge yourself. Do you really know how to build the active lifestyle that’s right for you? If you do, it isn’t misery. It’s part of your life that you just do. It’s okay that you don’t btw. Just stop saying you know what to do based on what you see others do.

This is your life and your process. It’s about your preferences, abilities and happiness. If you’ve been banging your head against a wall wondering why program “x” or “y” isn’t working for you, start building your own. Is this easier said than done? Yes. Sometimes though, you have to boil things down and not get lost in the fluff. When we get lost in the fluff we ignore what needs to happen because of our BS egos. 🙄 I’m hoping one person takes this to heart and does what they need to do. It’s time to own your own shit and fail forward. After all, YOU are resilient AF and have gotten this far. 👊🏻🤗
