Hey there. There are moments in life when you look back and think to yourself, I’ll wish I had the time back. It usually isn’t about the big things. More often than not, it’s about the hours I gave away to things that didn’t matter. The times I obsessed over the scale, or the workouts I skipped because I was too busy beating myself up mentally. I can’t get those hours or days back. But I can learn from them.
When I look at my own fitness journey, what stands out is not the days I stayed on track perfectly. It’s the time I wasted in my head. The years of believing I wasn’t good enough unless I looked a certain way. The diets I started and stopped because I thought the next one would finally fix me. All of that effort, and so much of it was spent in the wrong direction. That is time I wish I could reclaim.
The truth is, wishing for the time back doesn’t move me forward. What does is using those experiences to reshape how I live now. I can’t change the hours I wasted trying to hate myself into a smaller body, but I can decide today that I’ll never approach fitness that way again. I can choose the inside/out path where I focus first on my mindset, my habits, and how I talk to myself. From there, the actions I take actually stick.
I’ve learned that every moment I spend second guessing myself is a moment I can’t get back. And while I’ll never be perfect, I now understand the value of showing up with what I have, doing what I can, and moving forward. That’s the mindset that frees me from regret.
If you’ve been on this journey for years, you probably know exactly what I mean. You can look back at all the time you’ve lost to diets, to comparison, to self doubt. But here’s the good news. The very fact that you’re aware of it means you can choose differently now. You don’t have to lose another second to thoughts that don’t serve you.
The time you’ll wish you had back is already gone. But the time you have ahead of you is wide open. What you do with it is entirely up to you.
