Hey there. So many people hesitate to start something new because they think they’re not ready. They tell themselves they need more time, more resources, more confidence before they take the leap. But here’s the thing, you already have everything you need to start.
That’s the key. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to take that first step. Because once you do, you’ll start to see that action creates momentum. You’ll begin one thing, and suddenly, other areas of your life open up. The process of trying, learning, and adjusting is what builds your path forward, not some perfect plan that you think you need before getting started.
Failure is Just Navigating the Process
Most people define failure as something not going the way they expected. Maybe they thought it would be easy. Maybe they envisioned success happening in a straight line. And when it doesn’t work out exactly as they hoped, they take that as proof that they shouldn’t have tried in the first place.
That’s backwards.
What if failure wasn’t proof that you weren’t good enough? What if it was just part of the process? Because that’s exactly what it is. Every setback, every unexpected outcome, every adjustment you have to make—those are not signs to stop. They’re part of learning. They’re part of figuring it out.
The reality is, we all walk into new experiences thinking we know how they’ll go. But life doesn’t work like that. The more you try things, the more you realize that your expectations aren’t always accurate. And that’s not a bad thing. In fact, it frees you. You stop needing everything to go exactly as planned, and instead, you learn to adapt.
Confidence Comes From Choosing to Believe in Yourself
A lot of people think confidence is something you earn, that you have to succeed first before you can feel confident. But that’s not how it works. Confidence starts with making a decision to believe in yourself first.
If you wait for external validation, you’ll always feel like an imposter. You’ll always second-guess yourself. But if you decide, right now, that you’re capable of figuring things out, then every action you take reinforces that belief.
Here’s the interesting part, you’re already doing this, just in the opposite direction. If you think you’re a failure, you look at every setback as proof of that belief. But if you flip that and start looking at every small win, every lesson learned, every effort you put in as proof that you can do things, everything changes.
Trial and Error is How You Build a Life That Fits
I’ve experienced this firsthand in my own journey. Over the years, I’ve created podcasts, blogs, courses, and programs, some of them took off, some of them didn’t. But each one was a stepping stone. Every time I tried something, I learned what worked, what didn’t, and what I wanted to refine.
For example, when I first launched the Your Level Fitness blog, I didn’t know exactly how I wanted to structure it. I played around with different formats, experimented with different ways to present content, and over time, I found a system that worked. The blog didn’t start out as what it is today but it couldn’t have if I had never started.
The same goes for my podcasting journey. I’ve started multiple podcasts over the years. Some of them lasted longer than others. Some evolved into new things. But all of those experiences helped me understand what works best for me and my message.
That’s the point, you won’t figure things out by waiting. You figure them out by doing.
Stop Waiting and Start Now
If you take anything from this, let it be this: the only way to get where you want to go is to start moving. You don’t need permission. You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need to take that first step and trust that you’ll adjust along the way.
And if you’re ready to build a sustainable, inside-out approach to fitness and personal growth, I’d love for you to join The YLF Experience. It’s a structured way to reinforce these beliefs, build confidence, and take real action toward the life you want.
