Hey there. At some point, we’ve all made excuses. Whether it’s in fitness, personal growth, or any other area of life, we justify why we’re not taking action. The first step in changing that? Being honest with yourself.
Take a moment and look in the mirror. Look yourself straight in the eye and acknowledge the biggest excuse you’ve been making. Maybe it’s that you don’t have time to work out, or that you’re waiting for the “right” moment to start eating healthier. Whatever it is, call it out. Tell yourself that today is the day you stop making that excuse. Then, take action.
It doesn’t have to be a massive change overnight. Just start. Maybe you commit to a short workout, drink more water, or choose healthier meals. The key is to recognize the excuse and do something about it today. You may not be perfect every day, but if you stay aware of what’s been holding you back and actively work to change it, you’ll make progress. And after a couple of weeks, that excuse won’t have nearly as much power over you.
Now, let’s talk about the second step—your environment. Look at the people who influence you, especially on social media. Who in your feed is constantly making excuses? Who is enabling the ones you’ve been making? It’s time to drop them.
Unfollowing someone on social media is much easier than cutting someone out of your real life, which is why this is a great place to start. If you’re surrounded by negativity, it’s going to pull you down. Instead, surround yourself with people who challenge you, support you, and hold you accountable.
This is your challenge for today—choose one action. Either own up to your biggest excuse and take a step to overcome it, or clean up your social media feed by unfollowing people who aren’t helping you grow.
Let me know which one you choose. If you’re dropping negative influences from social media, send me a message saying, “I dropped someone.” I’ll even give you one or two recommendations for people who will provide positive support while still keeping you accountable.
