Hey there. For years I chased things I thought I was supposed to want. The job title, the number on the scale, the external approval. It took me a long time to realize that none of those things felt fulfilling because they weren’t really mine. They were expectations placed on me by others or by the version of myself that thought success meant looking a certain way.
What changed everything was getting honest about what I actually wanted. Not what someone else told me I should want, but what mattered to me. That process started with fitness. At first I thought I needed to chase the perfect body. But what I really wanted was to feel strong, to build trust in myself, and to know that I could follow through. Once I understood that, fitness became a springboard. The lessons I learned about setting my own goals and showing up almost daily started spilling over into other areas of my life.
The second part of this process is asking why. Why do I want this goal. Is it for me, or is it because I’m still trying to meet someone else’s standards. The “why” gives you clarity. It reminds you that your goals are meant to support your life, not the other way around. When your reasons line up with your values, it becomes easier to stay consistent. You no longer feel like you’re forcing yourself to grind through things you don’t believe in. Instead, you’re building something that genuinely matters to you.
The final piece is action. Almost daily action. You don’t need perfection. You just need to show up more often than not. Some days that looks like a full workout. Other days it might be a walk, journaling, or simply making a mindful choice with food. The point is that when you combine clarity on what you want with a strong “why” and almost daily effort, momentum builds. Over time, you start to realize you’re creating a life that feels like yours.
The power of this approach is that once you learn it in fitness, you can apply it everywhere. Relationships, career, personal growth. All of it starts with asking what you want, why you want it, and then backing it up with consistent action. That’s where fulfillment comes from. Not chasing someone else’s path, but walking your own with intention.
