How to Break Free from the Diet Cycle

Hey there. For a long time, I thought my past defined my future. Especially when it came to health and fitness. I spent decades bouncing from program to program, always chasing a goal weight, a certain body comp, or some idea of what would finally make me feel good enough. But the truth is, our past doesn’t have to dictate where we go from here.

So many of us have been thinking about our bodies since we were teenagers or even younger. We’ve spent years starting diets, stopping them, and feeling like we’re on an endless loop. It’s exhausting. And part of why it keeps happening is because the weight loss industry sets us up that way. They give us actions to follow without ever helping us build a solid foundation underneath those actions.

That’s why I always talk about starting with your preferences. What foods do you genuinely enjoy? What kinds of movement are you willing and able to do? Build your foundation on those answers. When you have a solid base that fits who you are, any tactics or tools you try have something to anchor into. You’re no longer forcing yourself into someone else’s plan. You’re creating your own.

The finish line is another trap. We’re told that reaching a goal weight or changing our body comp will finally bring us happiness or peace. But how many times have we hit a goal only to look in the mirror a few weeks later and feel like we have to start all over again? Maintenance is positioned as the ultimate goal, but the real unlock happens when we enjoy how we’re living every day. That’s the true maintenance lifestyle.

Here’s the thing I want you to consider. Would you be willing to spend a couple of years building a solid foundation so you can live decades in a place of comfort and freedom? Because I believe that’s a trade worth making. Instead of spending twenty years dieting, starting and stopping, feeling frustrated, you could take two or three years to figure out what truly works for you. And once you do, you’ll be set up for the long term.

I don’t even think it has to take three years. In a year or a year and a half, you can make incredible progress connecting with yourself, living inside/out, and setting up a lifestyle you’ll want to maintain. And the best part is, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried before. It’s never too late to build your foundation and discover what really works for you.

If you’re tired of always starting over, maybe it’s time to try a different approach. I’d love to help you build your foundation and live your own inside/out life. If you’re ready, join one of my coaching programs and let’s get started together!
